Author Alexis Hunter will join us this week for an intimate look at the life of singer/actress Joi Lansing, the legendary Blonde Bombshell whom most of you know for her appearances in such movies and TV series as Singin’ in the Rain, Marriage on the Rocks, A Hole in the Head, Maverick, Perry Mason, I Love Lucy, The Beverly Hillbillies, The Adventures of Superman and the famous opening tracking sequence of Orson Welles’ Touch of Evil.

The studio system made Joi Lansing a star, but it also created pressures for her to maintain that image of physical beauty and the perennial object of desire of every man in the world. That image also impeded Joi’s personal life, as Alexis notes in her book, Joi Lansing: A Body to Die For, a memoir about her life with Joi Lansing, which began in 1969 and continued until Joi’s death from breast cancer in August 1972. Alexis Hunter will join us in our second hour.

Our first hour will include a 30-minute tribute to Patty Duke, the Oscar-winning and Emmy Award-winning actress who died last week at the age of 69. We’ll also have a new DVD report and This Week in TV History.
