Travel our way as we “take the highway that’s the best” on the next edition of TV CONFIDENTIAL, premiering Monday, May 2 at 9pm ET, 6pm PT on Shokus Internet Radio, with additional airings Tuesday, May 3 at 11:05pm ET, 8:05pm PT on Passionate World Radio, Friday, May 6 at 7pm ET and PT on Share-a-Vision Radio, KSAV.org, and Saturday, May 7 at 8pm PT and Sunday, May 8 at 2pm PT on KWDJ 1360-AM (Ridgecrest, CA).
Our guests this week include actor, author and television historian James Rosin, whose latest book, Route 66: The Television Series, is a behind-the-scenes look at the iconic series starring Martin Milner, George Maharis and the world’s most famous Corvette.
The 2010-2011 television season marks the 50th anniversary of the premiere of Route 66 (CBS, 1960-1964), which struck a nerve among young adults particularly during its original network run. But in many respects, Route 66 was also a show that was ahead of its time, featuring stellar writing and production values the likes of which network television will never see again. We’ll talk about what made Route 66 such a great series when Jim Rosin joins us in our second hour.
In our first hour, Phil Gries will help us say Happy Birthday to Ann-Margret by playing highlights from one of her very first television appearances, an NBC special hosted by Andy Williams that originally aired 49 years ago this week. Rob Howe will also join us for this segment; Rob will share some memories of his longtime affiliation with show business legend George Burns, who gave Ann-Margret one of her first big breaks in November 1960.
All this, plus Tony Figueroa and Donna Allen and a look at entertainment headlines. It’s a full program as always... we certainly hope you’ll join us.
