This week’s program will include an encore presentation of our December 2011 conversation with Peter Ford, the son of film star Glenn Ford, an actor once described as the “Best Actor Never to Win an Academy Award,” despite the fact he is still recognized as one of the finest performers the motion picture industry has ever known. But though he always seemed at ease on screen, Glenn Ford’s life off-screen was a much different story, one that Peter captures in his excellent book, Glenn Ford: A Life, an intimate look at the private and public lives of the iconic actor, from his accomplishments in film and television, to his marriage to Eleanor Powell and affairs with many other actresses. We’ll ask Peter what it was like to grow up as the son of Glenn Ford, as well as discuss some of his father’s most famous films, including Blackboard Jungle, Gilda, Teahouse of the August Moon, Midway and the television series Cade’s County. We’ll replay our conversation with Peter in our second hour.

Our first hour will feature a replay of our May 2011 conversation with Emmy Award winner Jim Peck. While most of us think of Jim as the emcee of such TV game shows as Second Chance, Three’s a Crowd and The Big ShowDown, he has also hosted TV talk shows in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Washington, D.C., and other markets, including I Remember, a weekly interview program that Jim currently hosts for Milwaukee Public Television. Plus: Greg Ehrbar with a look at recent DVD releases featuring Lucille Ball, including Lucy in London, a one-hour special from 1966 that is part of the Season Five package of The Lucy Show.
