And there are deluded people who think that Eddie Albert was wasted by appearing on Green Acres. A perfect matching of a truly great actor with a great part.
Some wag over at alt.movies.silent mused that Albert shuffled off this mortal coil once he realized that the recent remake of The Longest Yard stars Adam Sandler. (Hey--can you prove it didn't happen?)

You're right. Very few could ever play straight man to an entire town.
The only other one who did was Dick Louden of 'Newhart'... and he was just the dream persona for Dr. Bob Hartley.
