Charles Lane 1905 - 2007

Character actor Charles Lane died at the age of 102. Mr. Lane, whose career spanned more than 60 years, was best known for playing a crotchety old man. He appeared in movies like It's a Wonderful Life, Mr. Deeds Goes to Town and Twentieth Century. On television he had a recurring role as the scheming railroad man, Homer Bedloe, on the sitcom Petticoat Junction. He also appeared in episodes of Perry Mason, The Twilight Zone, The Munsters and I Love Lucy. It is also noteworthy that Mr. Lane was a founding member of the Screen Actors Guild.

Lane continued to act into his 90s. Two years ago, the TV Land Awards paid tribute to Mr. Lane by celebrating his 100th birthday. After the audience sang Happy Birthday, Lane was presented with his award and then announced, "If you're interested, I'm still available!"

Good Night Mr. Lane
