Show No. 125
Feb. 8, 2012

First hour: Ed welcomes actor/comedian Tom Dimenna (Turkey Bowl, FunnyorDie.com). Tom is currently starring as Telly Savalas in Who Loves You, Baby, a “posthumous lounge act” that takes a look at modern-day romance through the eyes of the iconic star of Kojak. Who Loves You, Baby is playing at the SoHoPlayhouse in New York City through April 15. Also in this hour: Phil Gries remembers Feb. 11, 1960, the night on which Jack Paar walked off the set of The Tonight Show to protest NBC’s decision to delete a cheeky joke about a water closet that Paar had told on the air the night before.

Second hour: Emmy and Golden Globe Award-winning actor, writer and comedian Pat Harrington (One Day at a Time) talks to Ed, Tony Figueroa and Donna Allen about about his early years in television, including his appearances on The Tonight Show with Jack Paar and The Steve Allen Show as such characters as Italian golf pro Guido Panzini, as well as his work with Bill Dana, Don Knotts, Jonathan Winters and Norman Lear. Also in this hour: Ed pays tribute to Emmy Award-winning actor Ben Gazzara (Run For Your Life, Husbands, The Killing of a Chinese Bookie), Emmy Award-winning director John Rich (The Dick Van Dyke Show, All in the Family) and iconic actor/director Zalman King (Red Shoe Diaries, 9 1/2 Weeks, Smile, Jenny, You're Dead). Plus: a look at the five most popular commercials from this year's Super Bowl broadcast.
