This Saturday, April 7, is James Garner’s birthday, and we’ll mark the occasion in our first hour by playing Part 2 of our conversation with Jon Winokur. Jon is the co-author, along with James Garner, of The Garner Files, the story of Jim’s life and career in the motion picture industry. Among other topics, we’ll talk about Jim’s passion for auto racing, including the lengths he took while working with John Frankenheimer during the filming of Grand Prix.

Jon Winokur will be appearing at Book Soup, 8818 Sunset Blvd. in Hollywood, CA on Saturday, April 7, beginning at 4pm. For more information, call (310) 659-3110 or visit the Author Events page at www.BookSoup.com.

Also in our first hour, we’ll replay our conversation with “star car” researcher Jim Suva. A consultant on the “Crime Drama” segment of the PBS documentary series Pioneers of Television, Jim is an expert on many famous cars from classic films and TV series, including the Pontiac Firebird that James Garner drove every week on The Rockford Files.
Then in our second hour, we’ll have an encore presentation of our conversation with actor and author Efrem Zimbalist Jr. (The F.B.I., 77 Sunset Strip, My Dinner of Herbs). Efrem is a wonderful storyteller, and among other things, he’ll tell us about working with James Garner when he played Dandy Jim Buckley on Maverick, as well as his experience working alongside his daughter Stephanie Zimbalist on Remington Steele, as well as his dear friend Montgomery Pittman on 77 Sunset Strip.

Alll this, plus a brand new edition of This Week in TV History. It’ll be a full program as always, and we cordially invite you to join us.
