I represent the first generation who, when we were born, the television was now a permanent fixture in our homes. When I was born people had breakfast with Barbara Walters, dinner with Walter Cronkite, and slept with Johnny Carson.

true show business legend, Miss Rose
Marie has spent more than eight decades entertaining people —
first as a child star, then as a radio star, vaudeville star, Broadway star
(including Top Banana with Phil Silvers), musical comedy star (including
4 Girls 4 with Rosemary Clooney), and then, of course, film and
television, including five years as Sally Rogers on The Dick Van Dyke Show, as well as The Bob Cummings Show, The Doris Day Show and, for 14 years,
The Hollywood Squares. In fact, Rose Marie
is the only member of the original Hollywood Squares to have participated
in all of that show’s various reincarnations.
Rose
Marie will be discussing the golden era of entertainment later this month at the
California Women’s Conference, which will take
place Sept. 23-24 in Long Beach, CA. In addition, her memoir, Hold the Roses, provides both a child’s eye view and an adult’s eye view of her long and
distinguished show business career, which continues today with her work as a
voiceover artist on Garfield.
Joining
us in our second hour will be actress, author and activist Mary
McDonough, known to two generations of television viewers as
Erin Walton on the long-running, Emmy Award-winning series The Waltons. Mary will be participating in
the huge Waltons 40th Anniversary Reunionthat will take
place Saturday, Sept. 29 at the Wilshire Ebell Theatre in Los Angeles. The event
will feature series creator Earl Hamner Jr. along with many of the original cast
members, plus proceeds will benefit the Environmental Charter Middle School in
Los Angeles that is run by teacher and Waltons star Kami Cotler. For more
information, visit www.Waltons40th.com.
Mary
will also discuss the legacy of The Waltons, as well as her work as an
activist for women’s health issues, at the California Women’s Conference, Sept.
23-24 in Long Beach. In addition, she will be signing copies of her book,
Lessons from the Mountain: What I Learned from Erin
Walton, as part of her appearances each day at the
conference. For more information on Mary’s schedule, visit MaryMcDonough.com or her Facebook Fan Page.
