I represent the first generation who, when we were born, the television was now a permanent fixture in our homes. When I was born people had breakfast with Barbara Walters, dinner with Walter Cronkite, and slept with Johnny Carson.

once said that Ron Dante was a multi-tasker before long before the
word become popular. Take a look at some of his accomplishments, and you’ll find
that to be true. As a record producer, Ron has worked with such music stars as
Cher, Dionne Warwick, Pat Benatar, Irene Cara, Ray Charles, John Denver and,
most notably, Barry Manilow. As a singer/songwriter he has worked with such
legends as Don Kirschner, Neil Sedaka, Bobby Darin and Tony Orlando, plus
recorded such hit songs as “Tracy” for The Cuff Links and “Sugar, Sugar,” of
course, for The Archies. Baby Boomers know that Ron wrote and recorded some of
the most famous radio and TV jingles of all time (including spots for Coca Cola,
American Airlines, Budweiser, Dr. Pepper and “You Deserve a Break Today” for
McDonalds), while theater buffs know that Ron produced the Broadway productions
of Who’s Life is It Anyway, Crimes of the Heart, Children of a Lesser God
(which won Ron a Tony for best drama), and Ain’t Misbehavin’, for which
Ron received a Tony for best musical. Ron Dantewill join us in our second hour.
Ron
Dante will be performing at the Woodfield Country Club in Baca Raton, FL on
Saturday, Nov. 17; at the Snoqualmie Casino at Snoqualmie, WA on Sunday, Dec. 2;
at the Sunrise Theater in Fort Pierce, FL on Friday, Feb. 1; and at the upcoming
Davy Jones Memorial Monkees Convention at the Sheraton Hotel and Conference
Center in East Rutherford, NJ the weekend of Mar. 1-3, 2013. For more
information on these and other upcoming events, visit Ron’s website, www.rondante.com.
This week’s show will
also feature Part 4 of the Sounds of Lost Television’s tribute to Jack Paar; a
brand new edition of This Week in TV History; and a continuation of our look at
the new fall TV season. It’ll be a full program as always, and we certainly hope
you’ll join us.
