One of the original writers for Saturday Night Live, where he wrote for Gilda Radner, John Belushi, Dan Aykroyd and the rest of the Not Ready for Prime Time Players, Alan Zweibel has lent his voice to such other comedy legends as Steve Martin, David Letterman, Billy Crystal, Garry Shandling, Jon Lovitz, Larry David and Martin Short. Alan is also an accomplished author and novelist; his books include Bunny Bunny, the story of his 14-year friendship with Gilda Radner, which began in July 1975 on the first day of production meetings for Saturday Night Live. We will talk about Gilda Radner, plus we’ll ask Alan about his work on It’s Garry Shandling’s Show, Curb Your Enthusiasm and other aspects of writing when he joins us in our second hour.

Alan Zweibel recently collaborated with Billy Crystal on the Broadway production of 700 Sundays, Crystal’s critically acclaimed, Tony Award-winning one-man show about growing up, growing old, and the undeniable power of family. A taped performance of 700 Sundays will premiere on HBO on Saturday, April 19, while a new stage production of Bunny Bunny is currently playing at the Falcon Theatre in Burbank through Sunday, March 2.

Also this week: Phil Gries will join us in our first hour as we will remember Baseball Hall of Famer and longtime New York Mets television announcer Ralph Kiner by playing highlights of our three-part tribute to Kiner, which originally aired in April and May 2013 as part of The Sounds of Lost Television. Plus: This Week in TV History and a brand new DVD report.
