Cannell, most notably on The Rockford Files. Also in this hour: Tony Figueroa and Donna Allen remember the premiere of These Friends of Mine (Ellen DeGeneres’ first network comedy series, which later became known as Ellen) in 1994 and the events that led CBS-TV to fire Tom and Dick Smothers in April 1969. 

Second hour: Ed welcomes film and television author Paul Green. Paul’s latest bookRoy Huggins: Creator of Maverick, 77 Sunset Strip, The Fugitive and The Rockford Files, is an intimate portrait of the Emmy Award-winning writer/producer who elevated the form of television writing while also leaving his distinct mark in the genres of Westerns, private eye dramas, and hour-long anthology series.
