Most of you know Joyce Bulifant from her many appearances on such classic game shows as Password, Crosswits, Tattletales, To Tell the Truth, $25,000 Pyramidand, of course, the CBS Match Game, not to mention her many starring roles and guest appearances on such prime time shows and movies as The Mary Tyler Moore Show, Love Thy Neighbor, The Bill Cosby Show, Perry Mason, the Tom, Dick and Mary edition of 90 Bristol Court, Disney’s The Happiest Millionaire and, of course, Airplane! The executive vice president of The Dyslexia Foundation, where she campaigns for children's rights, and the founder of The Dyslexia Awareness program, Joyce is also known for her buoyant personality and effervescent smile—both of which were hard to maintain sometimes, in the face of her own struggles with dyslexia, not to mention a series of tumultuous marriages characterized by alcoholism, co-dependency, addictive behavior and domestic abuse.

Joyce’s book, My Four Hollywood Husbands, tells the story of her life and career, interwoven through the story of her marriages to James McArthur, Edward Mallory, William Asher and Roger Perry, as well as her relationships with Helen Hayes, "The First Lady of the American Theater" (and the grandmother of two of Joyce’s children), Lillian Gish (whom Joyce considers her "Fairy Godmother"), Jack Weston, Jack Warden, and many others. It is also a story about eternal love that serves as a reminder of the hurtful actions that alcoholism and addictive behavior can have on others, ourselves, and most important, our children.

Joyce Bulifant will join us in our second hour. (We’ll also have a special surprise guest that hour, but you’ll have to tune in to find out who it is.)

Joyce Bulifant also has several appearances coming up in the weeks and months ahead, including a benefit performance with Lesley Ann Warren, her co-star from The Happiest Millionaire, on Dec. 3 in New York, as well as events in Maryland, Virginia, Pennsylvania, Florida and Rancho Mirage, California. For more information on these and other upcoming appearances on Joyce’s calendar, go to the events page at JoyceBulifant.com.

Our first hour this week will include a return appearance by A.S. Berman, author of Soap: The Unauthorized Inside Story of the Sitcom That Broke All th.... Plus: Phil Gries with Part 3 of our tribute to Will Jordan as part of The Sounds of Lost Television, and Tony Figueroa and Donna Allen with a special tribute to Robert Guilluame.
