First hour: David Koenig, author of Danny Kaye: King of Jesters, the first in-depth examination of the stage, film, radio and TV career of Danny Kaye that not only explores Kaye’s often complicated relationship with his wife, Sylvia Fine, but chronicles his lifelong and his dedication to helping children around the world through his efforts with UNICEF. The 2013-2014 television season marks the 50th anniversary of the premiere of The Danny Kaye Show on CBS television.
Second hour: Ed welcomes Susan Kesler, author of The Wild, Wild West: The Series, and Bob Herron, one of the regular stuntmen on The Wild, Wild West, as well as Ross Martin’s double for almost the entire run of the show. Sue’s book takes you behind the scenes of the classic TV series, from its early struggles to the intricate disguises and splendidly choreographed action sequences that gave the show its mark, while Bob’s career as a stuntman and actor includes hundreds of films and TV shows, including Star Trek, The Rockford Files, The Wild Bunch, Paint Your Wagon, Rio Bravo, Hawaiian Eye, Oklahoma Crude and Gunsmoke.
