The son of actress Julie Adams and actor/director Ray Danton, Mitchell Danton, ACE spent much of his childhood observing the editing process on the various TV shows and movies that his father directed. This inspired an early interest in film editing that eventually led to a job as a post-production assistant on Cagney & Lacey, where Mitch moved up the editing ranks before deciding to attend the USC School of Cinema/Television, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude in 1990, and earned Phi Beta Kappa honors. Since that time, Mitch has established himself as one of the top editors in television, working on such diverse shows as Christy, Saving Grace, The Trials of Rosie O’Neill, Beverly Hills 90210, Dawson’s Creek, In Plain Sight, and Survivor, plus many made-for-TV movies, the Peabody Award-winning series Switched at Birth, and the acclaimed ABC miniseries The Path to 9/11 (for which he won an Emmy).

A gifted teacher, Mitch is also the author of Cutting It in Hollywood: Top Film Editors Share Their Journeys, an anecdotal “how to” book that takes you inside the trenches of post-production, with stories and examples drawn from the wisdom and real world experience of more than twenty top-notch film editors, all of whom learned their craft from cutting blockbuster movies and hit TV shows. The book includes an introduction by three-time Academy Award winner Michael Kahn, ACE. If you’re a film student, an aspiring film editor, or an assistant editor looking to move up the ranks, you’ll definitely want to tune in when Mitchell Danton joins us for our second hour.

Our first hour will include a new edition of This Week in TV History, plus a new DVD report.
