Rita Moreno is
born. The Puerto
Rican singer, dancer and actress
is the only Hispanic and one of the few performers to have won all
four major annual American entertainment awards, which include an Oscar, an Emmy, a Grammy and a Tony, and was the second Puerto Rican to win an Academy Award.
Home for the Holidays - Rita Moreno: Oscar, Emmy and Tony award winning actress and singer. Rita was born in Puerto Rico and moved with her mother to New York City in 1937. Best known for her role a Anita in West Side Story in 1961; she was the first Latina actress to win an Oscar.
