TV Guide business editor Stephen Battaglio, author of From Yesterday to Today: Six Decades of America’s Favorite Morning Show, will lead off the first hour as we look back at the legacy of The Andy Griffith Show and the departure of Ann Curry from The Today Show. We’ll then continue our tribute to Andy and the world of Mayberry along with Tony Figueroa and Donna Allen as part of an expanded edition of This Week in TV History.

Our second hour this week will include a
replay of our conversation with actor Tony Denison, Detective Andy Flynn on The Closer, which resumes its final season this week on TNT. We’ll ask Tony what lies ahead for Brenda Johnson, as well as take a look at Major Crimes (the Closer spin-off series that Tony will star in later this summer), and maybe ask a question or two about Crime Story.

We’ll then close out the program with an encore presentation of our conversation with Gene Hamm about his collaboration with Julie Newmar on Created Equal, a forthcoming documentary about the art and artists of Alchemia, a program in Northern California that provides classes and venues for mentally or physically challenged adults. Click here to view the trailer for Created Equal, as well as to find out how you can help support this project.
