If
you follow the world of Star Trek, you will probably remember Lawrence Montaigne for his roles as Decius in
“Balance of Terror” and Stonn in “Amok Time,” two of the most famous episodes of
The Original Series. But Lawrence has also appeared in twenty-five motion
pictures, including The Great Escape with Steve McQueen and
James Garner, as well as episodes of such classic TV series as The Fugitive,
The Rogues, Burke’s Law, Batman, The Invaders, Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea,
The Streets of San Francisco and Dallas. Lawrence has also lived many
lives outside of acting, including real-life adventures as a cowboy in Israel,
as a photojournalist in Rome, and as a gold smuggler in such far off places as
Bangkok and Hong Kong.
Lawrence
has led an epic life, so it’s only fitting that the title of his autobiography
happens to be A Vulcan Odyssey. We will talk about
Lawrence’s life in and out of the entertainment industry, his novel The Guardian List, and how he came to
re-create the role of Stonn after four decades in
Star Trek: Of Gods and Men, when he joins us
in our first hour.
Our second hour will include an encore presentation
of our January 2011 conversation with actor, writer and director Walter
Koenig, Pavel Chekhov from the original Star Trek and
the first six Star Trek movies. Walter will be receiving a star next
month on the venerable Hollywood Walk of Fame, making him the last of the seven cast members of the
original Star Trek to be so honored. He will also be appearing, along
with Lawrence Montaigne, William Shatner, Avery Brooks, Kate Mulgrew, and a host
of other Star Trek actors, at the official Star Trek convention, August
9-12 at the Rio Suites Hotel, 3700 W. Flamingo Road in Las Vegas. For more
