TV CONFIDENTIAL Archives: July 25-31, 2012

Show No. 146
July 25-31, 2012

First hour: Ed acknowledges the passing of director/producer William Asher by playing highlights of our December 2011 conversation with Herbie J Pilato, author of Bewitched Forever and Twitch Upon a Star, a forthcoming biography of Elizabeth Montgomery. Plus: Dan Farren joins Tony Figueroa and Donna Allen for a look at the legacy of All in the Family.

Second hour: Jim Rosin, author of Wagon Train: The Television Series, returns with a look back at the long-running Western series starring Ward Bond. At a time when network TV schedules were filled to the brim with Westerns, Wagon Train left its mark on television in ways that are still felt today, providing viewers with interesting characters every week while serving as one of the inspirations for the original Star Trek. Jim will be among the guests appearing at the Mid Atlantic Nostalgia Convention, August 9-10-11 in Hunt Valley, Maryland.
